Since the very first iPhone, we’ve seen the classic mute switch — until Apple replaced it with a new Action Button with the iPhone 15 Pro models in 2023. By default, it worked the same as the old mute switch, but through settings, users could customize it to perform a handful of tasks like starting a voice memo, opening the camera, turning on the flashlight, and more.
Now, a new leak (via Android Authority) suggests that Vivo is also following in Apple’s footsteps and will introduce a customizable button on its upcoming foldable phone. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Android OEMs blatantly copy iPhone features. Recently, OnePlus also replaced its iconic Alert Slider with a customizable button in the OnePlus 13 series.
Tipster Smart Pikachu recently posted on Weibo, sharing multiple live images of the Vivo X Fold 5. The images clearly show a new customizable button alongside the volume rocker and the power button with an integrated fingerprint scanner.

The leak also shows the customization interface for the new button, which straight-up looks like a copy of iOS’s Action Button settings page. The icons in the interface suggest that users will be able to perform song search, enable DND mode, mute the phone, launch the camera, turn on the flashlight, and more.

These are still early findings, and we’ll likely have to wait for the official announcement of the Vivo X Fold 5, which is set to launch this month in China, followed by a global launch in July. The device is rumored to feature an 8.03-inch inner display, a 6.53-inch cover display, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 6000mAh battery, 90W wired fast charging, and a 50MP triple-camera setup.
